Pange Lingua

Sing, my tongue, the mystery of the glorious
Body and of the precious Blood,
which, for the price of the world,
the fruit of a noble womb,
the King of nations poured out.

Given to us, born for us
from the untouched Virgin,
and having lived in the world,
scattering the seed of the Word,
He closed His stay with a wondrous order.

On the night of the Last Supper,
reclining with His brothers,
observing the law fully,
with the prescribed foods,
He gave Himself to the twelve.

The Word made flesh, true bread
by His word turns into flesh;
and the blood of Christ becomes wine,
and if the senses fail,
faith alone suffices to confirm the sincere heart.

Therefore, let us venerate with bowed heads
this great Sacrament;
and let the old covenant give way to the new rite;
let faith provide a supplement
for the deficiency of the senses.

To the Father, and to the Son,
be praise and jubilation,
salvation, honor, power also
and blessing;
and to the One proceeding from both
may there be equal praise. Amen.
