Since February the rehearsalsDesde febrero los ensayos
for what should be celebrated here in Mayde lo que en mayo aquí se debe festejar
lots of dances and non-danceable speechesmuchos bailables y discursos no bailables
that the kids will present to their moms.que la niñez a su mamá va a presentar.

The Gym teacher and the piano oneEl profesor de Gimnasia y el de piano
said 'ready now' so it won't faildijeron "listos 'ora' si no va a fallar"
while the kids with their little arms crossedmientras los niños con sus bracitos cruzados
say 'What time is recess gonna end, man!'dicen "A qué hora el recreo va a acabar, hombre!"

The school principal is so fatLa directora de la escuela está tan gorda
she could barely fit through the doorque por la puerta casi no pudo pasar
and since she didn't fit in the spot they saved for hery como no cupo en el lugar que le apartaron
she had to stand through the whole festival.de pie se tuvo que chutar el festival.

Pedrito Flores, one of the most diligentPedrito Flores que es de los mas aplicados
'That's my mom!' he promises to recite"¡Así es mi madre!" nos promete declamar

The daring second-grade girlsLas niñas de segundo muy aventadas
performed a can-can dance.se aventaron un can can.
The third graders danced a polkaLos de tercero bailaron una polka
and the fifth graders will perform a short play.y los de quinto van a actuar un entremés.
Since the fourth graders came up shortComo los de cuarto vinieron repoquititos
we repeat with the 'sixth' graders once again.con los de 'sesto' repetimos otra vez.

All the kids are sunburntTodos los niños ya están requeteasoleados
and the record player screeches like an animaly el tocadiscos chilla como un animal
the moms, without having breakfast...las madrecitas sin haber desayunado...
And the principal says 'Let me sit down'.Y la directora dice "Déjenme sentar".
