Our Island

As the five thirty ferry
Pulls away from the quay
See the west how it glows
As the Sun takes its leave

Emerald green with gold
The small jewel in the bay
Coochee marlosh waits
For her children's return

And we're all
Going home
To our island
Yes, we're all
Going home
To our island

Every Tuesday the ladies
They play cards at the red hall
Eunice, nancy, K. Winson and me
Tea cake and laughter

And we're all
Going home
To our island
Yes, we're all
Going home
To our island

Some nights
I hear the curlews
Their cries fill my dreams

As the five thirty ferry pulls in
To the quay
There's a scent in the air
Smells like freedom

And we're all
Going home
To our island
Yes, we're all
Going home
To our island

To our island
To our island
