Killing Me Softly

Me Tuer Doucement

Killing Me Softly

Grattant ma douleur avec ses doigts,Strumming my pain with her fingers,
Chantant ma vie avec ses mots,Singing my life with her words,
Me tuant doucement avec sa chanson,Killing me softly with her song,
Me tuant doucement avec sa chanson,Killing me softly with her song,
Racontant toute ma vie avec ses mots,Telling my whole life with his words,
Me tuant doucement avec sa chanson ...Killing me softly with her song ...

I heard she sang a good song, I heard she had a style.
And so I came to see her to listen for a while.
And there she was this young girl, a stranger to my eyes.

Grattant ma douleur avec ses doigts,Strumming my pain with her fingers,

Je me sentais tout rouge de fièvre, gêné par la foule,I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt she found my letters and read each one out loud.
I prayed that she would finish but she just kept right on ...

Grattant ma douleur avec ses doigts,Strumming my pain with her fingers,
Chantant ma vie avec ses mots,Singing my life with her words,
Me tuant doucement avec sa chanson,Killing me softly with her song,

She sang as if he knew me in all my dark despair.
And then he looked right through me as if I wasn't there.
And she just kept on singing, singing clear and strong.
