Goin On a Hunt

Did you forget i'm going on a hunt?
The traps are set,
I want you to know.
I'm going to kill the mighty animals;
We'll stuff their heads!
(to hang around you when you're alone)

Did you forget i'm going out to sea?
The violent waves will toss me about.
I'm going to spear the mighty giant squid,
I'll steal its ink!
(to write you letters about adventures)

Unclasp your fingers from my hands,
I'm off to distant lands.
Unwrap your fingers from my bags,
I have to go away.

Did you forget i'm going on a dig?
I'm going to find a dinosaur claw.
We'll string it up,
To hang around my neck,
To keep me safe.
(while excavating those precious bones)

Did you forget?
You're going on a hunt.
The plans are set.
You want me to know
I'm going to kill the mighty animals.
We'll hang their furs.
(for entertaining all your guests)

When you quit hunting you killed that something.
When you quit sailing you speared that feeling.
