We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

When the night grows cold
But your blood runs warm
And everything you touch
Just melts away
And leaves you alone

No one understands
The noise in your head
Such a simple melody playing over and over again

But why would you
Wanna blend in?
When you
Are drenched in gold?

We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

(We were never ordinary)

It was never far
Never out of reach
The ember in the dark lies quiet, burning just beneath

Isolated, complicated
Will we find a way to make it out alive?
And not feel so alone
Oh

But why would you
Wanna blend in?
When you
Are drenched in gold?

We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

You don't have to hide away
Your individuality
'Cause when I look at you
I see that you're just like me
A misfit runaway
With gold buried underneath

We were never ordinary
All the weight we carry (all the weight we carry)
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

We were never ordinary (never ordinary)
All the weight we carry (all the weight we carry)
Will help us write our story
In the darkest night
You were born to shine

We were never ordinary
In the darkest night, you were born to shine
(We were never ordinary)
