No Light

La caída en el nihilismo. Si el mundo no tiene un propósito, entonces tampoco lo tiene el hombre. Se ha separado del resto de la humanidad. Está solo. Oscuridad. En medio de una existencia sin propósito, ¿de qué sirven nuestras conexiones interpersonales más básicas? ¿Amor? ¿Dar? ¿Sacrificar? Si debemos convertirnos en superhombres y dirigir nuestros objetivos solo hacia nuestro propio logro, entonces nunca deberíamos dejarnos abrumar por otros, nunca vivir por el bien de otro hombre, nunca sacrificar nada por el débil o necesitado (ver: Ayn Rand). Sin embargo, la mayoría de nosotros aún deseamos ayudar a otros. En algún lugar del hombre, un deseo de luz se enciende.The descent into nihilism. If the world has no purpose, then neither does the man. He has detached himself from the rest of humanity. He is alone. Darkness. In the midst of a purposeless existence, however, what good are our most basic interpersonal connections? Love? Giving? Sacrifice? If we are to become overmen and direct our goals toward only our own achievement, then we should never let ourselves be weighed down by others, never live for the sake of another man, never sacrifice anything for the lesser or the needy (see: Ayn Rand). Yet, most of us still desire to help others. Somewhere in the man, a desire for light sparks.
