The trees penished in the wind
Beating each other, black and ominous
A strong wind reigning over the earth

The earth itself was a desolation
Without life, without movement
So solitary and cold that spirit
Was not even of that sadness

Black shadow reigning on your side
The energies being depleted by the earth
The hum of the swamp seemed to be laughing
Of the futile of life
And the futile effort to live
