In a humble, aged cowboy ranchEn un humilde rancho de huaso envejecido
lived a girl whom I knew,vivía una muchacha la cual yo conocí,
but one beautiful afternoon she left her nestpero una hermosa tarde abandonó su nido
and later I saw her in search of pleasures.y en busca de placeres más tarde yo la vi.

I saw her among the rich laughing out loud,La vi entre los ricos reír a carcajadas,
enjoying like a queen there in the cabaret,gozando como reina allá en el cabaret,
concluding her life with many late nightsconcluyendo su vida con muchas trasnochadas
like a withered flower shedding its petals.como una flor marchita deshojándose fue.

While back at the ranch the poor mother died,Mientras allá en el rancho murió la pobre madre,
the absence of her daughter ended her life,la ausencia de su hija su vida terminó,
and the father, in huge suffering and sobs,y el padre entre sollozos en enormes sufrimientos
seeing the ranch empty, also left.al ver el rancho solo también lo abandonó.

But this withered flower thought of returning one dayMas esta flor marchita pensó volver un día
