I knew from the very start that you would never care
But just the thoughts of losing you were more than my heart could bear
I kept hoping there'd come a time when love we both would find
But now I know I can never make you mine

Love is a simple thing but I know it must be shared
With us my love was true but your love just wasn't there
I'll forget you maybe in time but only God can erase your love from my mind
And it's useless I can never make you mine

I'll keep trying to find the way to make you mine
To prove my love is true and hope and pray you'll love me too
