Down in yon forest theres stands a hall

Which the sweet virgin Mary knelt upon

Under that bed there runs a flood

The one half runs water, and other runs blood.

At the bed's foot there grows a thorn

Whichever blows blossoms since He was born.

Denoting our Saviour was born this night
