I Am Small

I’m small,
maybe too small.
I know what my size is.
And so what, I’m not
as big as you are,
at the same height
we have the same eyes.
Here I am,
right in front of you again.
Once more
fighting like the first time.
Taking hits
instead of running away
when they come at me
from the front and the back.
But I won’t fall
even if I’ve fallen a thousand times,
fear doesn’t go away
just because you feel it.
And I won’t get lost
even if I’ve been found a thousand times,
your gaze
doesn’t scare me.
My wound
will be healed
by your tears tomorrow.
It’s really hard for me
to figure out why,
leaving everything
and just walking away
would be the best thing right now,
but you won’t succeed
in moving me from my place.
And I won’t fall
even if I’ve fallen a thousand times,
fear doesn’t go away
just because you feel it.
But I won’t get lost

your gaze
