Gold In The Water

What ever happened to the gold in the water
Swam into our nets and kept our spirits strong and free
What will become of our sons and our daughters
Trusted in us to know that there would always be
Gold in the water, the reason for living
The reason for giving our lives up to the sea

And we raise our prayers up to the sky
As our children cry for gold
Gold in the water, now just a memory
Of a life that was sweeter than a life could ever be
Now when the morning breaks brighter than heaven
I walk down to my boat and watch the sea

But we sailed that stormy sea before
And we've always found our way home
