If The Road Gets Hard

Just the other day I remember
I was walking home from school
Cutting through the corners of the fields
Dreaming of tomorrow

Youth was in my hands
I could breathe the mountains around me
Didn’t matter minutes or the miles
To me, it didn’t take but a while to find

If the road get hard
Lighten up the load
Set your sights up yonder boy
There’s love you’ve yet to hold

Gazing at the sun
Bit of a man now
But why am I here crying out for you
Wresting with reason for my lot

Suddenly a sweet memory
A stored up prayer Grandma must have said
As I shook the tears came pouring out
And I heard a voice say in the wind

When I was tired I’d say
What’s the use of trying
What’s the using of trying anymore?
But now I understand it
I’ve never been this close to anyone
