Yesterday the sun was bright
We made love through the night
We believed in the right
To invent our own life
When we were young

But we were so naive that we lost it
Never saw the writing on the wall

Our gold was in the sun
Our new world had just begun
Peace and freedom were won

Forever young

I don't know where it went
All our resources spent
Corporations intent
On draining what is left
From our young

I want my children to grow
To be watchful and know
