Das Lied der Tarrier

the tarriers song

Jeden Morgen um sieben UhrEvery morning at seven o'clock
Gab's zwanzig Tarrier, die in den Felsen bohr'nThere were twenty tarriers a-drilling in the rock
Und der Chef kommt vorbei und sagt, bleib stillAnd the boss comes along and he says keep still
Und drück kräftig auf die Gusseisenbohr'nAnd come down heavy on the cast iron drill

Und bohrt, ihr Tarrier, bohrtAnd drill ye tarriers drill
Bohrt, ihr Tarrier, bohrtDrill ye tarriers drill
Nun, es ist Arbeit den ganzen Tag für den Zucker in deinem TeeWell it's work all day for the sugar in your tay
Hinter der EisenbahnDown behind the railway
Und bohrt, ihr Tarrier, bohrtAnd drill ye tarriers drill
Und sprengt, und feuertAnd blast, and fire

Der Chef war ein feiner Mann bis ins MarkThe boss was a fine man down to the ground
Und er heiratete eine Dame, die sechs Fuß groß warAnd he married a lady six feet 'round
Sie backte gutes Brot und das auch gutShe baked good bread and she baked it well
Doch sie buk es härter als die HöllenöfenBut she baked it harder than the hobs in Hell

Der neue Vorarbeiter war Jim McCannThe new foreman was Jim McCann
Bei Gott, er war ein verdammter gemeiner MannBy God he was a blamed mean man
Letzte Woche ging eine vorzeitige Sprengung losLast week a premature blast went off
Eine Meile in die Luft flog der große Jim GoffA mile in the air went big Jim Goff

Als der nächste Zahltag kamWhen next payday came around
Wurde Jim Goff einen Dollar zu kurz gefundenJim Goff a dollar short was found
Als er fragte: Wofür? Kam diese AntwortWhen he asked: What for? Came this reply
Du wurdest für die Zeit abgezogen, als du in den Lüften warstYou've been docked for the time you was up in the sky
