I lived in the forest very happily,Yo vivía en el bosque muy contento,
I walked and walked without stopping,caminaba caminaba sin cesar,
the mornings and afternoons were mine,las mañanas y las tardes eran mías,
at night I lay down to rest,por la noche me tiraba a descansar,
but one day the man came with his cages,pero un día vino el hombre con sus jaulas,
he locked me up and took me to the city,me encerró y me llevó a la ciudad,
in the circus they taught me acrobaticsen el circo me enseñaron las piruetas
and that's how I lost my beloved freedom.y yo así perdí mi amada libertad.

"Be content" - an old tiger told me -Confórmate - me decía un tigre viejo -
never lack roof and food,nunca el techo y la comida han de faltar,
they only demand that we do acrobatics,solo exigen que hagamos las piruetas,
so we can bring joy to the kids.que a los chicos podamos alegrar.

Four years have passed in this life,Han pasado cuatro años de esta vida,
with the circus I traveled the world like this,con el circo recorrí el mundo así,
but I could never forget everything,pero nunca pude olvidarme de todo,
my forests, my afternoons, nor myself.de mis bosques, de mis tardes, ni de mi.

In a distant little town, someone didn't close the lock,En un pueblito lejano, alguien no cerró el candado,
on a moonless night, and I left the city.en una noche sin luna, y yo dejé la ciudad.
Now I step on the ground of my forest,Ahora piso yo el suelo de mi bosque,
once again the green of freedom, I am old,otra vez el verde de la libertad, estoy viejo,
but the afternoons are mine, I return to the forest,pero las tardes son mías, vuelvo al bosque,
I am truly happy.estoy contento de verdad.
