there was never a reason for what i saw that night
another senseless division another fight
mister can you please tell me how did we ever get this way

he was minding his business not doing nothing wrong
five policeman worked him till he was gone
how did we ever let it get this way
tradition always wins the game

i try to move past and wonder if you care
i know that you see it but you just stand there

how can we look each other in the face
every day shit happens we can't erase
