There must be something
In the signs we're reading
There must be something
In the story of our history
When will you start to take
The time you're needing?
When will I start to heed
The lessons of my history?

Well, I saw it coming
Them knocking down the windows
When all that you wanted
Was someone to wake
You in the morning
Do you still wear the robes
Of all the dreams you wove
Or do you cast them a side
When you're through?
I've been waiting for the answer

I slept in the shadow of your father
I saw his work and
I don't want his history
Well you sought the
Counsel of your mother
You heard her stories
And you saw your history

And she still remembers
