Point of No Return

There was a time when I could not stop crying
for someone else's pain
Seems like i cared for those
who were abandoned and left to die
There was a time when my heart
would not stop bleeding
for the weak and the wicked
the helpless and the ones without hope

These images I've seen
These words I've known
What is going on inside of me?
Slowly digesting, indifference remaining
...until I reach the point of no return!

However, those days of compassion are gone now
Buried deep within, the traces of the human heart
The horrible faces of pain surrounding me
But I don't seem to care anymore...
