And Satan appeared among the sons of menE junto aos filhos do homem apareceu Satanás

And the Devil answered God thus, ohE o Diabo respondeu para Deus assim, ó

The enemy spoke to God like this: Yes, I sawO inimigo falou para Deus assim: Vi sim
Then God said: That man is faithfulAí Deus falou: Aquele homem é fiel
That man I am proud of, fearful, obedientAquele homem eu tenho orgulho nele, temente, obediente
Then the Devil said to God, lookAí o Diabo falou pra Deus assim, ó
He is like this because he has a good family, good animalsEle é assim porque ele tem boa família, bons animais
Health, good childrenSaúde, bons filhos
Let me touch that life of his, that familyMe deixe tocar naquela vida dele, na família
What he likes, to see if he doesn't murmurNo que ele gosta, para ver se ele não murmura
And do not blaspheme to your faceE não blasfema na tua face
God spoke to the Devil like thisDeus falou para o Diabo assim

The Devil then, brother, used Job's neighbors to steal all the animals that Job hadO Diabo então, irmão, usou os vizinhos de Jó para roubar todos os animais que Jó tinha
Then a wind came from the desert and blew down the houseDepois veio um vento do deserto e derrubou a casa
And inside that house 10 of Job's children were having lunch, 7 men and 3 womenE dentro dessa casa 10 filhos de Jó almoçavam, 7 homens e 3 mulheres
All 10 diedMorreram todos os 10
The most religious person I know, when his son hurts his little fingerO mais crente que eu conheço, quando o filho machuca o dedinho
He's already starting to murmurJá começa a murmurar
He says that God doesn't look, that God doesn't careFala que Deus não olha, que Deus não cuida

Because Job knows what he did, he tore his garmentPorque Jó sabe o que ele fez, ele rasgou sua veste

The enemy went and gave Job a disease, leprosyO inimigo foi e colocou em Jó uma doença, a lepra
And Job was on the ground, leprous, sick, almost dyingE Jó tava no chão leproso, doente, quase morrendo
The elders of the time, elders like those there who crucified Jesus ChristOs anciões da época, anciões como aqueles lá que crucificaram Jesus Cristo
Or like these elders of todayOu como esses anciões de hoje
Who use theology to curse many things and make moneyQue usam a teologia para maldizer muita coisa e ganhar dinheiro
Instead of talking about Jesus ChristAo invés de falar de Jesus Cristo
These elders told Job that Job was in sinEsses anciões falaram para Jó, que Jó tava em pecado
Job spoke to them like this, ohJó falou para eles assim, ó

Job's wife said to him: Job, you are sickA mulher de Jó falou para ele assim: Jó, você tá doente
We lost our children, we lost our animalsPerdemos nossos filhos, perdemos nossos animais
We have lost our servants, curse your God there, oh, and die!Perdemos nossos servos, amaldiçoa esse seu Deus aí, ó, e morre!
He spoke to the woman like thisEle falou para mulher assim
Woman, if I was born naked from my mother's wombMulher, se eu nasci pelado do ventre da minha mãe
Naked I can die tooPelado também eu posso morrer
If God gave me everything I hadSe Deus me deu tudo que eu tinha

The Bible says that he was one of the richest men at that timeA Bíblia fala que ele foi um dos homens mais ricos que teve naquela época
And this is how God will do with youE assim é como Deus vai fazer com você
