Soneto ISonnet I
Soñando desde mi torre en el aireDreaming from my tower in the air
Más alto que los árboles que rodean cercaHigher than the trees surrounding close
Preguntándome si los hombres me encontrarían justoWondering if men would find me fair,
Los pasos abajo rompen mi reposoFootsteps down below break my repose
La niebla alrededor de mi ventana me obstaculizaThe mist about my window hinders me
De ver quién entraría en mi corteFrom viewing who would enter in my court
Pero tan pocos visitantes que la oportunidad de verBut so few visitors I chance to see,
Intento que estoy en hacer mi informeIntent I am on making my report
Y afinando mi dulce canción hacia la tierraAnd tuning my sweet song towards the earth,
Cambiaré mi destino, que me dejó aquí desde que nacíI'll change my fate, which left me here since birth.

Soneto IISonnet II
Seis notas sólo había sonado cuandoSix notes only had I sounded when
Los pasos se acercaron más a mi muro de prisiónThe footsteps came nearer my prison wall
Temblaba yo, sin embargo, sonaba de nuevoTrembled I, yet sounded them again
Y de lo que parecía el pozo de la tierra oyó llamarAnd from what seemed the pit of earth heard call
Una voz muy diferente a la que había oídoA voice quite different from those I had heard
Aunque podría contar ese número por una manoThough I could count that number on one hand
Mis labios están demasiado secos para hablar una sola palabraMy lips too dry to speak a single word,
Me preguntaba por qué no había planeado mejorI wondered why I had not better planned

Soneto IIISonnet III
Traté de gritar pero sonido que no podía hacerI tried to scream but sound I could not make
Mi espantado ingenio me había robado mi discursoMy frightened wit had robbed me of my speech
Pensé en cómo podría romperme mis trenzasI thought of how my tresses I might break,
Pero espié las tijeras más allá de mi alcanceBut spied the scissors just beyond my reach
Frenéticamente me metí a través de mis faldasFrantically I fumbled through my skirts,
Buscando mi daga en el redilSearching for my dagger in the fold
Lo mismo que usé para rasgar camisas de linoThe same I used for tearing linen shirts
Y como no sabía lo que tenía retenidoAnd as I knew not what of me had hold,
Sacrificar mis trenzas levanté mi cuchilloTo sacrifice my braids I raised my knife
¡Demasiado tarde! Ahora debo matar para salvar mi vidaToo late! I now must kill to save my life.

Soneto IVSonnet IV
Mi punto dirigido a la barbilla del forastoMy point directed at the stranger's chin,
No quedaba tiempo para cortar su cuerdaNo time was left for severing his rope
¿Pero debo matarlo o dejarlo entrar?But shall I murder him or let him in?
Estaba demasiado aturdido por lo que vi para esperarI was too stunned at what I saw to hope
Por alguna salvación. Sabía que estaba perdidoFor some salvation. I knew I was lost
Cualquiera que fuera mi elección, no importabaWhichever was my choice it mattered not
La niebla se había despejado, mi inocencia el costoThe mist had cleared, my innocence the cost
Y por un momento sin fin me forjéAnd for one endless moment I was wrought
De carne humana y preocupaciones y miedos humanosOf human flesh and human cares and fears

Soneto VSonnet V
Una cara que era, sí, tenía labios y ojosA face it was, yea, had it lips and eyes,
Pero a diferencia de lo que me saluda en el vasoBut unlike that which greets me in the glass
En sus esferas gemelas no vi menos sorpresaIn its twin orbs I saw no less surprise
Y así nos pusimos de pie, dos estatuas hechas de bronceAnd so we stood, two statues made of brass
Yo miraba en sus ojos y él en los míosI gazing in his eyes and he in mine
Como si hubiéramos leído el pensamiento del otroAs though we might have read each other's thought

Soneto VISonnet VI
Apenas sé la mitad de lo que hiceHardly knowing half of what I did
Pero consciente de que la mitad que sabía estaba locaBut well aware the half I knew was mad,
Agarré sus brazos como la virtud puede prohibirloI grasped his arms as virtue may forbid

Y sabía que pronto se había idoAnd I knew he must soon be gone away
Tomó mis manos y las presionó en las suyasHe took my hands and pressed them in his own
Como si al hacerlo, se quedara más tiempoAs if by doing so he should stay longer
Me habló del mundo que podría haber conocidoHe told me of the world I might have known,
Prometiendo regresar y matar a mi malhechorVowing to return and slay my wronger
