I hear him come in through the living room door,Le oigo entrar por la puerta del salón,
I open my eyes and see her in my room,abro los ojos y la veo en mi habitación,
softly, her voice says good morning to me,suave, su voz me da los buenos días,
then she raises the blinds.luego sube la persiana.

She asks me: How did you sleep last night?Me pregunta: ¿Qué tal dormiste esta noche?
She sits next to me,Se sienta a mi lao,
I give her an indifferent grin:le devuelvo una mueca indiferente:
Not so great, becauseNo muy bien, porque
I couldn't reach the damn pottyno podía alcanzar la bacinilla
and I really need to pee.y tengo que mear.
She apologizes, picks it up, brings it to meSe disculpa, la recoge, me la acerca
and turns around...y se da la vuelta...

She moves me until I’mMe mueve hasta ponerme
on the edge of the bed with all the care,al borde de la cama con todo el cuidado
leaning back, finally, she manages to sit me up.dejándose la espalda, al fin, consigue sentarme.

Once we get out of the doorway,Una vez que salimos del portal
there’s that ramp that’s so hard to get down,está esa rampa tan difícil de bajar,
I feel convulsions and crampssiento llegar por la pierna y el brazo
running through my leg and arm.convulsiones y calambres.

Walking through the park we run intoPaseando por el parque nos cruzamos
another neighbora un vecino más
who’s trying hard, wants to show the sorrowque se esfuerza, quiere reflejar la pena
he feels for me.que siente por mí.
I’d tell him I don’t needLe diría para nada necesito
his pity at all,de su compasión,
he only knows how to talk about my problemsolo sabe hablar sobre mi problema
and poke at the wound.y hurgar en la herida.

Where are the reasonsDónde están los motivos
that make me wake up to a new day,que me hagan despertarme ante un nuevo día,
to tell the world Here I am! I still have life...para decirle al mundo ¡Aquí estoy! Aún me queda vida...

Only Elisa greets me in the morning,Solo Elisa me saluda la mañana,
I stop to think, how little I have left!me paro a pensar, que poco me queda!
