I feel happy singing to the worldMe siento feliz al mundo cantando
And with my guitar brightening the nightY con mi guitarra la noche alegrando
I sing to the woman who works sweatingCanto a la mujer que trabaja sudando
Moving the mill to make the sugarcane juiceMoviendo el trapiche pa' hacer el guarapo
The one who plants love with bare feetLa que siembra amor con los pies descalzos
And her lips taste like pineapple and mangoY sus labios saben a piña y a mango

But what she earns is not enough to eatPero lo que gana no le alcanza pa' comer
She goes upriver, she goes downriverVa canoa arriba va canoa abajo
Full of hope but with no restLlena de esperanza pero no tiene descanso
And she keeps working and keeps workingY va trabajando y va trabajando
And she keeps working but doesn't know until whenY va trabajando pero no sabe hasta cuando
