How Can I Thank My Loving Savior

They struck and cursed my loving Savior
With crown of thorns they pierced His head
He bore the shame I should have taken
He walked the road I should have tread

He could have called ten thousand angels
With just one word, escaped the dread
He could have walked away from Calv'ry
He chose to die for me instead

How can I thank my loving Savior
What word or thought could e'er express my overwhelming adoration
My overflowing thankfulness

So oft His love I have forsaken
Yet still He comes and breaks the bread
He pours the cup of my salvation
And raises me up from the dead
