Esta noche, mientras yacía en un vagón de carga esperando que pase un trenTonight as I lay on a boxcar just waiting for a train to pass by
¿Qué será del vagabundo cuando llegue su hora de morir?What will become of the hobo whenever his time comes to die
¿Tiene el Maestro allá arriba en el cielo un lugar que podríamos llamar nuestro hogar?Has the Master up yonder in heaven got a place which we might call our home
¿Tendremos que trabajar para vivir o debemos seguir vagando?Will we have to work for a living or must we continue to roam.

¿Habrá trenes de carga en el cielo, vagones en los que podamos escondernos?Will there be any freight trains in heaven any boxcars in which we might hide
¿Habrá policías rudos y guardafrenos, nos dirán que no podemos viajar?Will there be any tough cops and brakemen will they tell us that we cannot ride
¿El vagabundo será amigo del hombre rico, siempre tendremos dinero de sobra?Will the hobo chum with the rich man will we always have money to spare
¿Nos darán respeto a los vagabundos en esa tierra que yace oculta allá arriba?Will they hand respect for a hobo in that land that lies hidden up there.
