Tener semillas para el próximo añoTo have seeds for the next year.
Y la gente intercambiaba semillas de ida y vueltaAnd people traded seeds back and forth.
Algunos tenían más que otrosSome had more than others.
Acaban de compartir el uno con el otroThey just shared with one another.
Todos tenían que cultivar verduras si querían vivirEveryone had to grow vegetables if they wanted to live.

Mucha gente pobre también, que necesitaba ayudaLots of poor people too, who needed help you know.

La gente que tenía un poco más ayudóPeople who had a little more helped.
Todos ayudaron a todos los demásEveryone helped everyone else.
