Seven Years Now

I would write you a letter
Where I finally find my voice
But all my words are masquerading as
anything but my choice

I last saw you seven years now
You slept inside a dream
Take my hand now
let’s break apart this frozen tired broken scene

In the evening darkness
I bend my head to the earth
And all this spinning, all my emotion
Can you tell me what it’s worth?

Floating through fits of distraction
I spent all of my time
But now I’m reaching for easy rhyming
And looking for a straight, straight line
