I'm Just How I Want to Be

Soy Como Quiero Ser

From the southern lands I comeDe tierras surianas vengo
From there I bring my songDe allá les traigo mi canto
I'm a student of lifeAlumno soy de la vida
The life that teaches so muchLa vida que enseña tanto

A hawk from the mountainsUn gavilán de la sierra
Taught me to enjoy flyingMe enseñó a gozar volando
Just as much in the heightsLo mismo por las alturas
As down low, brushing the groundQue abajo, suelo rozando

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser
Being friends with everyoneSer amigo de todos
A cowboy to the coreRanchero hasta los codos
Sincere as can beSincero a más no poder

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser

A rooster asked for permissionUn gallo pidió permiso
To step on a little henDe pisar a una pollita
When it was grantedCuando se lo concedieron
He was already laying the damn eggsYa hasta ponía la maldita

A parrot that was muteUn perico que era mudo
Taught me, with its silenceMe enseñó, con su silencio
To tie my tongue in knotsA echarle a la lengua un nudo
Before speaking like a foolAntes que hablar a lo menso

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser
Being friends with everyoneSer amigo de todos
A cowboy to the coreRanchero hasta los codos
Sincere as can beSincero a más no poder

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser

I'm like a wild stallionSoy como el potro amañado
That, when he sees a fillyQue, cuando mira potranca
Has no reins or fencesNo tiene rienda ni encierro
No matter how high the bar isPor alta que esté la tranca

From the southern lands I comeDe tierras surianas vengo
From there I brought my songDe allá les traje mi canto
I respect even the humblestRespeto hasta al más humilde
And I'm not scared of the devil himselfY ni del más diablo me espanto

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser
Being friends with everyoneSer amigo de todos
A cowboy to the coreRanchero hasta los codos
Sincere as can beSincero a más no poder

I'm just how I want to beSoy como quiero ser
