T'was on the Maison Dieu Road that I met him
Before The Grapes came to be The Louis
There was an old banger car on the forecourt
T'was a Jaguar not a Capri

His long hair and beard were both ginger
With glasses like Buddy Holly
And the musos and posties would linger
In The Grapes first and then The Louis

He said "your usual" and poured me a bitter
But Olde English was my cup of tea
And next morning was Bing from his cellar

And most of my changes were Dover
And that house he made with Jackie
We've moved on and those days are over
But I'm glad they shared them with me
