Une couronne d'épines, une croix à porterA crown of thorns, a cross to bear
Et des amis en deuil, suivant de prèsAnd sorrowing friends, following near

Mais comment pouvons-nous retenir ces larmesBut how can we hold back these tears

La chair déchirée, les nerfs tremblantsThe tearing flesh, the trembling nerves
Certains se moquent maintenant, et raillent sa soifSome now bow in jest, and mock his thirst
Et pourtant de ses lèvres, Père, pardonneand still from His lips, Father, forgive
Comment ont-ils pu tuer leur SeigneurHow could they slay their Lord

Mais peut-il en être ainsi, maintenant nous voyons qu'aucune tombe ne peut te retenirBut can it be, now we see no grave can hold Thee
La mort a une fin, tu vis à nouveauDeath has an end, thou lives again
