'Consuelo, consuelo a todo mi pueblo; habla de paz', así dice nuestro Dios."Comfort, comfort all my people; speak of peace," so says our God.
Consuela a aquellos que están en la oscuridad, gimiendo bajo la carga de sus penas."Comfort those who sit in darkness, groaning from their sorrows' load.
Habla a todo Jerusalén de la paz que les espera;Speak to all jerusalem of the peace that waits for them;

Dios perdonará todos sus pecados, borrando cada mala acción oscura;All their sins our God will pardon, blotting out each dark misdeed;
Todo lo que merece su enojo ya no lo verá ni lo tomará en cuenta.All that well deserve his anger he no more will see or heed.
Han sufrido muchos días; ahora sus penas han desaparecido.They have suffered many a day; now their griefs have passed away.
Dios cambiará su tristeza dolorosa en alegría que brota eternamente.God will change their aching sadness into ever-springing gladness.

¡Oh, obedezcan ese grito de advertencia! Prepárenle un camino a Dios;Oh, that warning cry obey! Now prepare for God a way;
Que los valles se eleven para recibirlo y las colinas se inclinen para saludarlo.Let the valleys rise to meet him and the hills bow down to greet him.

Enderecen el camino torcido; hagan llanos los lugares ásperos.Straighten out the crooked highway; make the rougher places plain.
Que sus corazones sean sinceros y humildes, listos para su reinado santo.Let your hearts be true and humble, ready for his holy reign.
Porque la gloria del Señor ahora se extiende sobre la tierra,For the glory of the lord now o'er earth is spread abroad,
