La noche antes de esa feliz fechaThe night before that happy tide
La noble Virgen y su guíaThe noble Virgin and her guide
Estuvieron mucho tiempo buscando por todas partesWere long time seeking up and down
Para encontrar alojamiento en la ciudad.To find a lodging in the town.
Pero vean cómo todo sucedió;But mark how all things came to pass;
¡De cada puerta fueron rechazados, ay!From every door repelled alas!
Como se había predicho, su refugioAs long foretold, their refuge all
Fue solo un humilde establo de bueyes.Was but an humble ox's stall.

Tres sabios venidos de lejosThere were three wise men from afar
Guiados por una estrella gloriosa,Directed by a glorious star,
Y así vagaron noche y díaAnd on they wandered night and day
Hasta llegar donde yacía Jesús,Until they came where Jesus lay,
Y cuando llegaron a ese lugarAnd when they came unto that place
Donde estaba nuestro amado Mesías,Where our beloved Messiah was,
Se postraron humildemente a sus pies,They humbly cast them at his feet,
Con regalos de oro e incienso dulce.With gifts of gold and incense sweet.

Cerca de Belén pastores cuidabanNear Bethlehem did shepherds keep
Sus rebaños de corderos y ovejas;Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep;
A quienes los ángeles de Dios se les aparecieron,To whom God's angels did appear,
Lo que llenó de temor a los pastores.Which put the shepherds in great fear.
'Prepárense y vayan', dijeron los ángeles.'Prepare and go', the angles said.
'A Belén, no tengan miedo:'To Bethlehem, be not afraid:
Porque allí encontrarán, en esta feliz mañana,For there you'll find, this happy morn,
A un príncipe bebé, dulce Jesús nacido.A princely babe, sweet Jesus born.

Con corazón agradecido y mente alegre,With thankful heart and joyful mind,
Los pastores fueron a encontrar al bebé,The shepherds went the babe to find,
Y como el ángel de Dios había predicho,And as God's angel had foretold,
Vieron a nuestro Salvador Cristo.They did our saviour Christ behold.
En un pesebre fue colocado,Within a manger he was laid,
Y a su lado la virgen doncella,And by his side the virgin maid,
Atendiendo al Señor de la vida,Attending on the Lord of life,
Quien vino a la tierra para poner fin a toda contienda.Who came on earth to end all strife.
