Venid todos vosotros muchachos y muchachas, quisiera que prestéis atenciónCome all you lads and lasses, I'd have you give attention
A estas pocas líneas que estoy a punto de escribir aquí,To these few lines I'm about to write here,
Se trata de las cuatro estaciones del año que mencionaré,'Tis of the four seasons of the year that I shall mention,
La belleza de todas las cosas se hace presente.The beauty of all things doth appear.
Y ahora que sois jóvenes y estáis en vuestra prosperidad,And now you are young and all in your prosperity,
Animad vuestros corazones y revivid como la primavera,Come cheer up your hearts and revive like the spring
Uníos en parejas como los pájaros en febreroJoin off in pairs like the birds in February
Que el Día de San Valentín lo trae consigo.That St. Valentine's Day it forth do bring.

Luego llega la Primavera, que nutre toda la tierra;Then cometh Spring, which all the land doth nourish;
Los campos comienzan a vestirse de verde,The fields are beginning to be decked with green,
Los árboles echan sus brotes y las flores florecen,The trees put forth their buds and the blossoms they doflourish,
Y se pueden ver los tiernos tallos de maíz en la tierra.And the tender blades of corn on the earth are to be seen.
¿No ves los corderitos jugando junto a las madres?Don't you see the little lambs by the dams a-playing?
El cuco canta en el bosque sombrío.The cuckoo is singing in the shady grove.
Las flores brotan, las doncellas van a celebrar el Mayo,The flowers they are springing, the maids they go a-Maying,
En el amor todos los corazones parecen moverse.In love all hearts seem now to move.

Luego llega el Otoño con el sol tan caliente y penetrante;Next cometh Autumn with the sun so hot and piercing;
El cazador sale con su perro y su escopetaThe sportsman goes forth with his dog and his gun
Para abatir la becada, la perdiz y el faisán,To fetch down the woodcock, the partridge and the pheasant,
Por salud y por diversión, así como por beneficio.For health and for profit as well as for fun.
Mirad, con los manzanos cargados el granjero es favorecido,Behold, with loaded apple-trees the farmer is befriended,
Llenarán sus barricas que han estado secas por mucho tiempo.They will fill up his casks that have long laid dry.
Toda la naturaleza parece cansada ahora, su tarea está casi terminada,All nature seems to weary now, her task is nearly ended,
Y más de las estaciones vendrán pronto.And more of the seasons will come by and by.

Cuando llega la noche con canciones y cuentos pasamos las horas invernales;When night comes on with song and tale we pass the wintryhours;
Manteniendo un corazón alegre esperamos días mejores.By keeping up a cheerful heart we hope for better days.
Cuidamos del ganado, sembramos la semilla, damos trabajo a los aradores,We tend the cattle, sow the seed, give work unto the ploughers,
Con paciencia esperamos hasta que el invierno ceda ante los rayos del sol.With patience wait till winter yields before the sun's fairrays.
Y así el mundo gira y gira, y en cada momento y estaciónAnd so the world goes round and round, and every time andseason
Con placer y con beneficio corona el paso del año,With pleasure and with profit crowns the passage of the year,
Y así a lo largo de cada etapa de la vida, para aquel que actúa con razón,And so through every time of life, to him who acts with reason,
La belleza de todas las cosas se hace presente.The beauty of all things doth appear.
