La Chanson de la Natation

The Swimming Song

Cet été, je suis allé nager,This summer I went swimming,
Cet été, j'ai failli me noyerThis summer I might have drowned
Mais j'ai retenu ma respiration et j'ai battu des piedsBut I held my breath and I kicked my feet
Et j'ai agité mes bras, j'ai agité mes bras. And I moved my arms around, I moved my arms around.

Cet été, j'ai nagé dans l'océan,This summer I swam in the ocean,
Et j'ai nagé dans une piscine,And I swam in a swimming pool,

Dans ce dernier, j'étais décontracté,At the latter I was informal,
At the former I wore my suit, I wore my swimming suit.

Cet été, j'ai fait le dos crawléThis summer I did the backstroke
Et tu sais que ce n'est pas toutAnd you know that's not all
J'ai fait la brasse et le papillonI did the breast stroke and the butterfly
And the old Australian crawl, the old Australian crawl.

I did a cannonball, I did a cannonball.
