Et la gloire brilla autour.And glory shone around.
"N'ayez pas peur," dit-il, car une grande terreur"Fear not," said he, for mighty dread
Avait saisi leur esprit troublé,Had seized their troubled mind,
"Je vous annonce de grandes nouvelles de joie"Glad tidings of great joy I bring
Pour vous et pour toute l'humanité."To you and all mankind."

"Pour vous, dans la ville de David aujourd'hui,"To you, in David's town this day,
Est né de la lignée de DavidIs born of David's line
Le Sauveur qui est le Christ le Seigneur,The Savior who is Christ the Lord,
Et voici le signe :And this shall be the sign:
Le bébé céleste que vous trouverez làThe heavenly Babe you there shall find
À la vue des hommes,To human view displayed,
Tout simplement enveloppé de langes,All meanly wrapped in swathing bands,
Et couché dans une mangeoire."And in a manger laid."

Ainsi parla le séraphin, et aussitôtThus spake the seraph, and forthwith
Apparut une brillante multitudeAppeared a shining throng
D'anges louant Dieu et ainsiOf angels praising God and thus
Chantant leur hymne joyeux :Addressed their joyful song:
"Gloire à Dieu dans les cieux"All glory be to God on high
Et paix sur la terre,And on the earth be peace,
Que la bonne volonté d'en haut vers les hommesGoodwill henceforth from heaven to men
Commence et ne cesse jamais."Begin and never cease."
