Our country is small, everyone knows,Ons land is klein, dat weet een ieder,
we learned that in school long ago.dat hebben we op school gehad.
But it can be grand in its beauty,Maar het kan groot zijn in zijn schoonheid,

The Zeeland waters are also stunning,De Zeeuwse wateren zijn ook prachtig,
just like all the brochures claim.zoals in alle folders staat.
But they lack that one thing the Wad has,Maar ze missen net dát wat 't Wad heeft
that indescribable charm it contains.en wat zich niet beschrijven laat.

When you walk through the sticky Wad at low tide,Als je bij eb door het kleffe Wad loopt
and the clay sticks to your soles,en de klei zich aan je zolen kleeft,
You see the light of the Brandaris,Zie je het licht van de Brandaris,
then you realize you're alive.dán besef je dat je leeft.
You wander through the Wad, wading along,Je loopt maar wat door 't Wad te waden,
until you come across old boats,tot je op oude schuiten stuit
And you know when the tide comes in,En je weet als straks de vloed komt,

When you have to hurry back at high tide,Als je bij vloed gehaast weer terug moet,
