Wither

I was surrounded by darkness
Embraced by darkness
So darkness I became
And I evaporated into the eternal night sky
Like a milk-white haze

I was surrounded by grey
Embraced by grey
And the great void I saw before my eyes
Was engulfed in thick black smoke

I was surrounded by white
Embraced by white
And my bleeding heart
Painted these snow-covered plains
In the deepest red

I was surrounded by nothingness
Embraced by nothingness
All alone on the ground I lay
And nothingness I became

But in my mind you sat beside me
Forever holding my hand
Silently watching me wither away
