i wanted to write you a song to remind you
of everything good in the world.
you could play it at picnics
and in traffic you could listen.
let it take you away.
but this is as good as it gets these days.

i wanted to paint you a picture
that'd make you smile
everytime you walked by.
you could trace every line with your finger
and find that they're all for you.
but i'm only an artist
from time to time
when i'm painting my way out of things.
