4th Of July

After the dawn, I was able to take my first step unafraid
Independent of my old ways, stole some new ground for today
And I won't think about you, till the floats pass by in another years time
And right then, I might miss you

And I'm barefoot in the kitchen
Reheating coffee from yesterday
And out their window, they're sweeping up the colors
Who dry up a memory of the parade

For a minute I might miss you
When I think of how you cried later on in the night
And the sky fell down on us
On the Fourth of July
