Eight O'clock

It was early in the night
About eight o'clock sharp
When I heard the strangest scream
It was short and narrow
Just a sigh in a shadow
Must have been done with silk

My man was long gone
And so was the kingdom
Now they came to take the queen

The last lock cracked
And broke like a match
The crowd came running in
Said "don't go for the window
That poison you won't swallow
Alive we take the queen !"

Well men, hear me speak
Things ain't what they seem
For this queen too was locked in
