Obstacle Course

If I could hold a mirror
To the boy a I used to be
I'd see your face staring back at me
And if you could see ahead
To the man that you'll become
You'd understand where I'm comimg from
But you stare at me
And I stare back at you
And neither one can figure out
Our next move
And the years that separated us
Are an obstacle course
And it's gonna take some work
To get us through
There were times I wished
That I had a little help
From someone who had gone along
The path that I tread
And the knowledge I've acquired
Is the best thing I can share
With someone on his way
But not quite there
