Spending Time

Long ago she was working with dying people
And she let me know some of their lonely wisdom
She'd never met anyone who on their death-bed
Wished they spent more of their time at work

Thinking of what matters most
Spending time is all we have

They were young when they met and fell in love
He worked hard he was paid well and got promoted
"It's all for you!" he said he couldn't understand the distance
She said she felt years alone had killed their romance

You and I we met when things were simple
You earned the bread and I dreamed of making millions
How things have changed and tonight I sing for money
And she's at home emersed in books and study

You come home and I go out
