A Race Around The Earth

out on the island
the natives taught me
about their strange god
their carver? rituals
and they showed me their mellow music
I felt so different, but kinda the same

I had no time
I had to go, had to finish
my race around the earth
and for one shining minute
well, all was okay
they had this way of singing
and night turned into day

I met a girl who ran away
far as she could from the USA
I asked her, "Why?"
she said "Debts I couldn't pay,
as long as they don't find me, I'm doing okay."
we climbed trees, we slept on beaches
we told stories of the land and the sea
and for one shining minute,
when she looked away,
I fell in love forever
