Respite

I'm feeling different than before
In the past I’ve wanted more
Now all time brings is apathy
Lately, I can never breathe
Whys my chest so damn heavy?

I guess this is growing up
Sure feels like sticking in the mud
Of all the things I’ve asked myself
Why persist what feels like hell?
Why give up against the swell?

Though you all take just what you want
My hollow bodies here to haunt
Closed eyes with vivid memories
I am lost within my dreams
I am tearing at the seams

I feel different and it hurts
I guess I found what I deserve
Though cynicism never wins
I’ve found nothing better than
Being cold against the wind

A cold heart will never freeze
No discomfort I am free to embrace simple apathy
Let the pain just fall beneath
Before it devours me
