Old Life On Holy Land
Alax William
Back in nineteen eighty-seven, down that red dirt lane
Eucalyptus winds called out my name
The pastures rolled where the sunlight played
And life was sweet in the shade we made
Grandpa’s hands and Grandma’s grace
Their laughter carved in that sacred place
The smell of milk, the sound of rain
Still echo softly through my veins
My uncles joked by the old barn door
Cousins running wild like never before
We chased the wind, barefoot and free
God’s country shining just for me
Evenings came with the fires’ glow
Stories told in the afterglow
The stars above were bright and near
And love was simple, pure, and clear
Those golden days have gone their way
But in my heart, they always stay
The man I am was shaped right there
By gentle souls and country air
Take me back to São Carlos days
Where faith and laughter lit our ways
To Grandma’s song, to Grandpa’s hand
To that old life on holy land
Take me back where the rivers flow
Where time stood still, and love would grow
The fields still hum the songs we played
Back in those São Carlos days
Now the years have flown like grain in wind
But I’d give it all to go again
To smell that grass, that morning dew
To see their smiles, the skies so blue
The gentle hearts that raised me strong
Still guide my soul when nights are long
I thank the Lord for what they gave
Their love still shines beyond the grave
Through every mile and every town
I hear their voices calling down
Heaven holds them, safe and near
But I still feel them whisper here
Take me back to São Carlos days
Where faith and laughter lit our ways
To Grandma’s song, to Grandpa’s hand
To that old life on holy land
Take me back where the rivers flow
Where time stood still, and love would grow
The fields still hum the songs we played
Back in those São Carlos days
Take me back to São Carlos days
Where faith and laughter lit our ways
To Grandma’s song, to Grandpa’s hand
To that old life on holy land
Take me back where the rivers flow
Where time stood still, and love would grow
The fields still hum the songs we played
Back in those São Carlos days
In every dawn, their love remains
Through joy and tears, through loss and rains
God holds them now, His arms embrace
But I still feel their warmest grace
Take me back to São Carlos days
Through the roads of dust and faith that stay
My heart still rides that golden haze
Back to those São Carlos days
