Waiting

watching the sun set
for a final night
into eternal darkness
to know without sight

i wait for another moment
that i would be close to you
that time would be forever
but i never knew

i wait for the night to end
but the waning never accends
longing for another moment
just to be with you

i feel the cold growing around me
a heavy mist is in the air
i wait for all eternity
lost in doubt and fear

another day and night and time
i would have found you there
but this moment had long been lost
forgotten by unconditional care

i sit and watch the stars pass by
beams of light shining true
the only things i see familiar
when i don't have you

in the winter chill i tremble
once you'd keep me warm
i wait for you to be beside me
and i'd be free from harm

but that time has past
you will never come
as my blood runs cold as ice
the physical feeling runs numb
