Turn with still haunted face
To the ghost in the water
Sentence dealt without trace
Silent rest in the water
Fears revolve round one theme
Smothered thoughts enter every dream
As cold hands stretch through the night
Their secret rests far from sight

I look up for the sky
Through the crowd on the pavement
Briefly draw passers by
Choose a cloud from the pavement
And though deceptively clean
No relief marks the final scene
As countless feet tread from sight
A stencilled shape chalked in white
