Alienated

Isolated from having anything
More than an existence
Knowing who is to blame
For the circumstance
Knowing who is responsible for your plight

In the work place or at home
The individual remains an isolated unit
With no-one to turn to for assistance
Relationships are made and broken on the back of a selfish need

To fulfil an otherwise lonely existence
This is the world we all live in
As we struggle for definition
For something that defines our person
And yet by doing so we become so self-absorbed
That we forget all those around us
Who would only be too willing
To provide the hand of friendship
