He quickly lifts his footFlugs hebt er den Fuß
in those way too big shoes,mit dem viel zu großen Schuh,
then does a cartwheel,schlägt sodann ein Rad,
and all the kids are watching him.und all die Kinder schau´n ihm zu.
He’s always smilingEr lächelt immerfort
and can’t seem to stop,und aufhören kann er nicht,
with red and white paintmit rot-weißer Farb´
permanently on his face.untrennbar im Gesicht.

The green baggy pants,Die grüne Pluderhose,
red hair, colorful hat,rote Haare, bunter Hut,
are part of the facade,gehör´n zu der Fassade,
the wall that he builds.zu der Mauer die er zieht.
Brick by brick all around him,Stein um Stein um sich herum
no one ever sees through.kein Blick sie je durchdringt.
Who really wants to know if a clownWer will schon wissen ob ein Clown
sings after the show too?auch nach der Show noch singt?
